Official Rules

Who can enter:

Alaskan youth ages 12-18 as of the submission deadline. The contest is void elsewhere and where prohibited or restricted by law. Entrants may be individuals or groups who meet the eligibility requirements, but there is only one prize per winning entry. By entering the contest, you agree to be bound by the contest rules and represent that you and your entry or entries meet the eligibility requirements and that you are the sole owner of the legal rights to your art.

What we’re looking for:

•  We’re looking for digital captures of up to 3 of your best works of Manga-styled art. We want single images, not a panel comic.

•  Your work should be original and free of logos and trademarks. All characters must be original and created by you and not a drawing of a character created by another artist or company.

•  Your work should be in more than one color, in any medium of your choice (ink, paint, digital rendering, etc.).

•  Your art should include the following:
  1. A Japanese youth
  2. An American/Alaskan youth
  3. A polar bear
*These represent the international friendship and cultural exchange between Alaskan and Japanese youth and the University of Alaska.

•  The art may be used on social media, posters, web pages, pins, brochures and other means to promote the Alaska/Japan international cultural exchange.  It may be enlarged or reduced in size to fit one or more of these formats.

•  Images must be in .jpg format at 1200x1200 px. Please title your digital images with your first initial and last name.
    For example: BSmith1.jpg, or  Bsmith2.jpg.

You may submit up to 3 designs. Email your designs to: jfloyd1@alaska.edu with "Manga Contest" in the subject line. Send each of your images in a separate email. In the body of the email include the following information:
