Project Discipline: Baking
Ages: All ages, cloverbuds will need supervision

Difficulty level: easy
Supplies: flour, baking powder, salt, milk, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla extract, various ingredients depending on what you choose to add!
Who doesn't love a quick bread?  We're going to give you some options here.  You can choose to make your favorite quick bread and share your recipe,  OR choose one of the 7 options shown below to test out, and let us know how it went!

First off, what is a quick bread? A quick bread is made with a leavening agent (such as baking powder or baking soda) that permits immediate baking of the dough or batter mixture.

Quick Bread, 7 ways

Ingredients for basic bread:
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted, cooled
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extra
  • Gather your ingredients & preheat your oven to 350. Lightly grease a loaf pan.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl, then set aside.
  • Combine milk, sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla in a second bowl.  Stir 20-30 seconds.  Add in the flour mixture, one-third at a time, stirring until smooth after each addition.  Stir in any additions you choose.
  • Spoon the batter into your pan, bake 32-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Cool for 5 minutes, run an edge around bread and remove from pan, to cool on a rack.  Make sure to try some before it's completely cool - that's when it tastes the best!
