"It's not the thing you fling, it's the fling itself"

Northern Exposure may have said it best: "It's not the thing you fling, it's the fling itself".  Today you are going to create our own catapult and use it to fling something!  Check this video out for some inspiration.

Your STEM Challenge: What Will You Fling?

Picture
Think about a catapult  and how it works, then gather some supplies in your house that you can use to create your own catapult.  Be creative in choosing what you will fling! See how you can play with it to make it fling farther or higher!  Snap a photo or video to share with us!

If you need some more direction on how to build your catapult or some ideas to get you started, Alaska 4-H Agent from the Tanana District, Marla Lowder, shows us in the video below how she completed this challenge: Learn By Doing!
Project Discipline: STEM
Ages: All ages
Difficulty level: Easy
Supplies: Use anything in your house!
If you choose to follow video instructions, you'll need: 10 popsicle sticks, 3 rubber bands, scissors, bottle cap, a glue gun, and something to fling (Marla used jelly beans!)
