4-H Livestock Project
Raising livestock is always a popular 4-H activity, with many opportunities to breed, raise, show and market various species. Whether raising rabbits or a 1000 pound steer, youth can enjoy the many benefits of this project area.
The Mat Su/Copper River 4-H Livestock Committee meets monthly (usually the 1st Thursday of the month) to plan activities, make program determinations and other project decisions. All are welcome to attend!
4-H Junior Market Livestock Project
The Mat Su/Copper River 4-H District conducts a Junior Market Livestock Auction each year on the Saturday before Labor Day during the Alaska State Fair. This exciting event is the culmination of many months of hard work, training, educational activities, presentations and more by our 4-H members raising a variety of quality Alaskan grown livestock. These animals may be purchased by businesses or individuals, or donations may be made to the Charitable Buyers Club, who then use these funds to purchase animals for food banks and similar organizations.
Youth interested in participating must enroll in 4-H and meet several requirements and deadlines, so contact the CES Office as soon as possible for further details.
Please see our "forms" page for livestock forms!
