Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Kodiak 4-H!
No matter what your passion is, we've got a place for you! Join our fun, dedicated group of volunteers and help us grow Kodiak 4-H for the benefit of our local youth and community.
Alaska’s 4-H program wouldn’t exist without its hundreds of volunteers. People volunteer in many different ways depending on their interests, skills and time they can devote to 4-H. As a 4-H volunteer you might:
Lead a 4-H project in a subject area that excites you — forestry, fishing, fashion, foods, farm animals and many more.
Find a friend, team up and co-lead a 4-H project in a subject area you and your kids are interested in.
Learn with the kids! Have a topic you want to know more about? Lead a 4-H project, and like the youth, you will learn by doing.
Teach workshops at a summer camp or special event. Share your favorite hobby or skill.
Judge at your local state fair or at livestock events and contests.
Host our 4-H group at one of our all member meetings and share your knowledge.
Have a service activity you need done? Contact our 4-H office and we'll come up with a plan!
help with a current project, or start your own!
Our current projects include: Small animals, horse/horse lovers, gardening, teen leaders, therapeutic riding, cloverbuds, & quilting. We are always in need of additional help for some of these projects. Contact our 4-H office if interested.
IN DEMAND: Every year, we ask our 4-H members what they want to do as a project. Their ideas include: Arts/Crafts, Film/Photography, Robotics, Shooting Sports. We are actively recruiting for these project leaders/co-leaders!
If these topics aren't your cup of tea, click on the link below for other ideas/inspiration!
Throughout the year, we will have quarterly "all member meetings" and also a variety of special activities/community service projects. We will sometimes have these meetings at local businesses, or bring people to the meeting. Let us know if you have a special skill or topic to share information about!
How do i get started?
Our state 4-H webpage has a great page for getting started on the path to becoming a volunteer. If you will be starting your own project group, you'll need to complete all of the steps on this page. If you are just wanting to help out at an event or host our group, you won't need to complete all of those steps - contact our office for more information (486-1534 or at firstname.lastname@example.org).
